Brewster’s Town Meeting on May 5th approved a proposed conservation land purchase.
Article 23 asked the voters to approve the most recent land purchase proposal to help round out the Town’s 900-acre Punkhorn Parklands. The Town Open Space Committee was able to negotiate a bargain price ($114,000) on a 3.29-acre building lot surrounded on three sides by town conservation land on Black Duck Cartway. This parcel will be owned by the Town Conservation Commission. The Brewster Conservation Trust (that’s us) will hold a conservation restriction on the parcel for additional permanent protection. The lot encircles a blueberry and maple swamp that serves as a den for deer and other wildlife.
