The 2013 Growing Season at the Children’s Garden

09-nwsltr photo, garden kidsThe Brewster Conservation Trust hosts the only community garden on land trust property on Cape Cod.  Meryl Gartside recently put together a 3-minute show highlighting the Children’s Garden portion of the 65 family plots on the Lower Road property.  You can watch it by clicking here.

Mary-Louise and Ruth Eddy donated the 18 acres, part of their grandparents’ Pinecroft Farm, to BCT in 1984.  The Town’s Council on Aging has administered the garden plots on BCT’s behalf.  About 20 plots are reserved for children, instructed by the County’s Master Gardeners program.

Getting our children into the dirt is fun and instructive.  The best way to get them to eat their vegetables is to help them grow them!

The daughters each […]

Spring 2024 Newsletter

Sometimes the right place and the right time come together. In a community where housing is in short supply, this is indeed good news. Brewster’s zoning in the 1980’s established large building lots that slowed the unmanageable growth of the time but are now impeding the development of sorely needed workforce housing. Today’s Brewster needs […]
