Brewster Conservation Day 2017

Thanks to all that came out this year – what a great day!

With over 40 unique presentations, you can learn from interactive exhibits on aquaculture, natural plant gardening, and water resources.  New this year we are hosting Goats Green Cape Cod.  Come see a live demonstration to an alternative way to get ride of weeds and brush.  Also new this year, we welcome Atlantic White Shark Conservancy to teach about Shark awareness, safety and conservation. Take the kids to see some local catch at the Fisherman’s Alliance,  Trevor the Juggler,  and the AmeriCorps Puppet Show.  Learn about our ocean resources, coastal erosion, herring migration, whale rescue, and alternative energy and septic systems.  Tour the blacksmith shop and the windmill, see a fishing weir, and enjoy some Brewster oysters.  Special presentations include: All About Oysters in Brewster, oyster shucking lessons and shell fishing experts. Sponsored by the Brewster Conservation Trust, the Town of Brewster Conservation, Natural Resources Department and the Brewster Historical Society

This story started three generations ago when Ralph and Blanche Doble purchased over 70 acres along Satucket Rd. in 1955. Summer after summer, the couple’s son, five daughters, and 18 grandchildren would visit. Over the years, the land was subdivided and each Doble child received a house lot of approximately ten acres. The daughters each […]

BCT’s 40th Year Annual Report

Over BCT’s 40-year history, the evolution of our mission has been profound. What began as an effort to protect any available land from the reach of breakneck development has become a strategic approach to acquiring land with high conservation value and a steady commitment to natural resource stewardship and community outreach. Brewster’s zoning in the 1980’s established large building lots that slowed the unmanageable growth of the time but are now impeding the development of sorely needed workforce housing. Today’s Brewster needs […]
