If you or your adviser have questions, please call BCT’s conservation adviser Mark Robinson at 508-694-7415 or email: mark@thecompact.net.

A wonderful way to leave a lasting legacy and enhance the quality of life in Brewster, which is rooted in the natural environment, is to donate funds to save land or to donate or protect land itself. If you are interested in donating land, contact us for a confidential conversation.

If you are interested in donating funds to advance land conservation, then you may contribute in several ways. You may donate by check payable to Brewster Conservation Trust and mailed to Brewster Conservation Trust, 36 Red Top Rd., Brewster, MA 02631. Or you may donate appreciated securities; we can provide the account and routing numbers to facilitate that kind of donation. The federal tax I.D. number for the Brewster Conservation Trust is: 04-2798931.

WAYS TO DONATE:

1) Donate unrestricted funds to support BCT’s general operating budget for land conservation projects. This is the type of contribution most needed.

2) Donate funds to BCT’s Priority Ponds Project, which helps preserve critical pondshore properties to help protect water quality, wildlife habitat, and passive recreational opportunities.

3) Donate funds to specific BCT acquisition projects. E-mail conservation advisor Mark Robinson at mark@thecompact.net. or call him at 508-694-7415 for an update on lands in need of acquisition funding.

4) Make a bequest for the benefit of Brewster Conservation Trust.
For some land conservation supporters, a bequest is the most realistic way of making a significant gift to Brewster Conservation Trust. You may provide for BCT by:

• creating a new will
• adding a codicil to your present will
• including Brewster Conservation Trust in your revocable trust
• or designating Brewster Conservation Trust as the beneficiary of
your retirement plan or insurance policy.

To ensure that your exact intentions are carried out, wills, codicils and trusts should be prepared with the advice of your attorney. Mark Robinson, Executive Director of The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts, is available for additional information on the various methods of designating a bequest to Brewster Conservation Trust or for guidance in planning a gift (phone 508-694-7415) or e-mail mark@thecompact.net).

A bequest or beneficiary designation to Brewster Conservation Trust should be made payable to the “Brewster Conservation Trust” which is the official name. Unless otherwise specified, such a bequest is interpreted as an unrestricted donation to BCT to be used in any way to serve any of its purposes.

Sample Bequest Form
A general bequest, unrestricted as to purpose
“ I give (____ dollars) or (____ percent of my estate) to Brewster
Conservation Trust (federal tax I.D. number: 04-2798931), Declaration of Trust dated June 22, 1983 and recorded with the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds in Book 3791, Page 25, and registered with the Barnstable Land Court Registry District as Document No. 325,521, with a mailing address of 36 Red Top Rd., Brewster, Massachusetts, for the benefit of Brewster Conservation Trust, and for its general purposes.”

If you wish to make a bequest specifically to benefit BCT’s Priority Ponds Project, it is important to state that the bequest be paid to the “Brewster Conservation Trust for the benefit of the Priority Ponds Project.”

Sample Bequest Form
An endowment bequest for a specific purpose
“ I give (____ dollars) or (____ percent of my estate) to Brewster
Conservation Trust (federal tax I.D. number: 04-2798931), Declaration of Trust dated June 22, 1983 and recorded with the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds in Book 3791, Page 25, and registered with the Barnstable Land Court Registry District as Document No. 325,521, with a mailing address of 36 Red Top Rd., Brewster, Massachusetts, for the benefit of Brewster Conservation Trust, and for (state the purpose; eg: Priority PondsProject). If, in the future, in the opinion of Brewster Conservation Trust all or part of the income of this fund cannot be usefully applied to the above purpose (or in the above manner), it may be used for any purpose within the powers of the Brewster Conservation Trust that will most nearly accomplish my wishes and purposes.”

To help us help you make sure your intent will be realized, we would be grateful if you would mail a copy of the pertinent portion of your estate documents, after your plans are finalized, to Brewster Conservation Trust, 36 Red Top Rd., Brewster, MA 02631. We will respect the sensitive and confidential nature of any material that you provide.

We are available to consult with you and your advisor about bequests and other forms of charitable giving that may benefit you, your family, and land protection advanced by Brewster Conservation Trust.

Fall 2024 Newsletter

This story started three generations ago when Ralph and Blanche Doble purchased over 70 acres along Satucket Rd. in 1955. The daughters each […]

Call for a Feasibility Study of Long Pond Property

Out of concern for potential negative impacts on our community’s water resources, Brewster Conservation Trust and the Brewster Ponds Coalition recently approved a joint resolution calling for a review and further study of the proposed housing development of the Long Pond property.
