Fall 2012 Newsletter

Check out our online-version of the Fall 2012 BCT Newsletter.  In it you will find the latest details of BCT boldest move yet: the purchase, at auction, of a 6.5-acre beech forest fronting Greenland Pond.  BCT had never participated at an auction for land before, but before we knew it, we were submitting the winning bid!  The land had previously been offered to BCT for an asking price twice as high as we ended up paying for it.

You will also learn about the critical habitats that BCT considers our Most Wanted types of natural resource parcels and recap Brewster Conservation Day.  President Peter Johnson reflects on the late Frances Nickerson and the many ways she gave of herself to BCT.  And we look at other BCT “significant others”, including John and Carol Ericsson, the late Steve Erickson and conservation leaders at the Town of Brewster.

It’s all in your year-end Newsletter.  Along with the high, good hope that you will rally around us and make a year-end contribution to our cause.

Summer after summer, the couple’s son, five daughters, and 18 grandchildren would visit. Over the years, the land was subdivided and each Doble child received a house lot of approximately ten acres. The daughters each […]

BCT’s 40th Year Annual Report

Over BCT’s 40-year history, the evolution of our mission has been profound. What began as an effort to protect any available land from the reach of breakneck development has become a strategic approach to acquiring land with high conservation value and a steady commitment to natural resource stewardship and community outreach. Read the 40th Year […]

Spring 2024 Newsletter

Sometimes the right place and the right time come together. In a community where housing is in short supply, this is indeed good news. Brewster’s zoning in the 1980’s established large building lots that slowed the unmanageable growth of the time but are now impeding the development of sorely needed workforce housing. Today’s Brewster needs […]
