Brewster Conservation Day 2023
The event included some long-time BCD exhibitors, such as Brewster Fire Department, Cape Cod Extension Master Gardening Program, and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). A few newbies joined this year, too, including New England Coastal Wildlife Alliance (NECWA), Native Land Conservancy, and Get Outside Cape Cod. Best exhibit awards went to The Big Flush, Brewster Ponds Coalition; Garden Club of Brewster; and Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage (OLAUG).
Thanks to volunteers from Brewster Oysters and BCT, people slurped down freshly shucked oysters on the half shell and chomped on hot dogs fresh off the grill.
The weather cooperated too, offering a cloud cover in the morning while exhibitors set up and then lifting to make room for sunshine and a light breeze.
By the time the four hours were over, more than 1100 people had cruised through the displays and taken part in the learning and the fun. Time and again people commented on how well the event was run, a big testimony to the many volunteers who made it happen.
BCD is Sponsored by the Brewster Conservation Trust,
Town of Brewster-Natural Resources Department,
the Brewster Historical Society and
The Brewster Ponds Coalition.
Thanks to AmeriCorps Cape Cod.
