BCT joins the Town of Brewster and the Chamber of Commerce as we welcome signs of spring and get ready for the summer ahead!
Starting this weekend with Beautify Brewster on April 17 from 10 am to 12 pm, for a town wide clean up day. BCT will have two crews going out to clean up along our properties’ road ways on Lower Road and also Route 137. Thanks to the over 20 volunteers that signed up – we imagine it will be ‘short (and fun) work’. If you’re driving by, be sure to give us a honk.
Mark your calendars – April 30 – May 1 and be sure to check out the ways to celebrate (safely) this year for Brewster in Bloom at the Brewster Chamber of Commerce HERE! And, Brewster Conservation Trust is joining in the fun!
On Saturday, May 1, you can visit BCT’s Eddy Sisters and Eddy Bay trail from 9 am – 10 am and learn more about the history and ecology of these special places. For example did you know that the land at Eddy Sisters was once the planting fields of the Native American Saquatucket people? And, that Augustus Thorndike owned the property that is now Eddy Bay Trail, starting in 1899, and used the old barn once located here to store cranberries harvested from the nearby bogs?
And, while you are at Eddy Sisters you can explore the trail and read our Spring StoryWalk, “Bea’s Bees”. Bea’s Bees tells the story of Beatrix as she discovers a wild bumblebee nest on her way home from school and finds herself drawn to their busy world.
